Meet Our Staff

karla150x188.jpgDr. Karla Haas Moskowitz, Director of Development, has been a licensed classroom teacher since 1980 with pre-K through university experience. Karla’s undergraduate work is in Counseling in Special Education and Social Services. She holds a Professional Colorado Teachers License in secondary English and has taught in four states in both urban and rural areas. Karla received both her elementary and secondary school Principal’s Licenses in 1990 from the University of Denver. She holds two Master of Arts degrees; the first in Curriculum and Instruction with a cognate in International Studies from the Center for Teaching International Relations (CTIR) at the University of Denver (1989) and the second is in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Denver (1997). Karla’s interdisciplinary Ph.D. is in Political Science and Education from Union Institute and University (1999).

Since 2003, Karla has served as a teacher trainer for Lesley University’s National Initiative where she teaches a variety of graduate level education courses nationwide. She has served as an Adams State College and University of Denver adjunct instructor developing on-site teacher training courses since 1992. In addition, Karla teaches graduate courses focusing on Language Literacy and Culturally Responsive Teaching in the School of Education at the University of Colorado at Denver as well as co-directs the Alternative Teacher Licensure Program and Community Studies Center at Naropa University in Boulder. Karla also teaches a variety of Political Science courses for Metropolitan State College of Denver and in The Center for New Directions in Politics and Public Policy, the master’s program in political science at the University of Colorado at Denver.

Participatory Teacher Action Research remains Karla’s passion and focus. Her most recent work is in teacher resistance and activism for the purpose of transformation of self and society.

lisa150x188.jpg Lisa Martin, M.A. SPED, Director of Instruction for TILA, is a native of Colorado Lisa received her BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Women’s Studies and obtained her teaching license at Fort Lewis College in 1996. In addition, Lisa completed her MA in Education at the University of Colorado at Denver in 2004. Lisa has been a Social Studies teacher for over 10 years and is currently a teacher instructor, mentor, and educational consultant in several schools in the Denver area.

 

 

Rebekah Anne Cordova, M. Ed., rebekah150x188.jpgis currently the Director of Student Services for TILA.  Rebekah  received her BA in Sociology and Human Services from Fort Lewis College and graduated from the University of Florida's School of Teacher Leadership and School Improvement with a Master's of Education.  Over the past several years, Rebekah has taught Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies in numerous school settings, including alternative charter schools, residential treatment facilities, and youth detention centers. Rebekah's passion is teaching multi-cultural literature in order to support and encourage student voice and empowerment.
